Aamlicious, Treat of the Season @Khandani Rajdhani, Indiranagar

Mango, the king of tropical fruits is celebrated and anticipated throughout the year in the subcontinent. As the season commences, a variety of curated events starts with various recipes and preparations made with Mango. Rajdhani has been celebrating this season with their very own Aamilicious festival showcasing culinary delicacies for the past few years in April until the end of May.

I was delighted to be part of the celebrations again this year. The Indiranagar outlet saw many food aficionados enjoy the plethora of dishes made with Mango across all courses of their extensive Thali.

I started with the very refreshing Aam Thandai and Aam Panna as drinks to accompany the elaborate dishes served over the various courses of the Thali. The Mango Khandavi with Chatpata Aamras stood out among the Farsan with the Cheesy Aam Pizza Dhokla taking the second place among other delicacies like the Aam Papad Samosa and the Aam Papad Potli Kachori, both packing a subtle punch of flavours for my palate.

The Chats were up next and the Jaipuri Mango Dal Dhokli was my personal favourite among others namely Khasta Kachori and Palak Aamras Chats.

The Mains were the most striking and innovative among all five courses with the Rajasthani Kaju or Aam ki Sabzi taking the crown over others. Its sweet and sour taste blended well with the Aam Pista Pulav, another favourite from the menu. I was quite excited to taste the Marwari Kacchi Kairi ki Biryani with the spicy and flavourful Kairi Samose ki Subji, another dish which earned an instant admirer in me. The Kairi Surti Dal is something that is best enjoyed with the Phulke.

The best was yet to arrive in the form of the traditional Aamras savoured with Puris. The Aamrakhand, a traditional Shrikhand with Aamras, as divine as it sounds was my next embellishment along with Mango Jalebi and Raabdi, Gulkhand Paan Malpua, and Mango Basundi.

Chef Sougata made sure we were well taken care of and explained each and every dish in detail. The courteous staff and their prompt service is something that Rajdhani is famous for and today was no exception. The dishes are available across the menu in their Thali till May 31 and after depending on how the monsoon plays out with the Mangoes. If lucky, we would be able to cherish them for a couple of more months post May. A must for everybody who loves Mangoes, Aamilicious is back for yet another year to make new memories in Summer.
